Biography

J. Sonya Haw is an assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Lipids in the School of Medicine. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota in 2012. She then came to Emory University to complete her fellowship in Endocrinology, Metabolism and Lipids and joined the faculty at Emory in 2014. Dr. Haw currently provides clinical care to patients in the Diabetes Center and Endocrinology Clinic at Grady Memorial Hospital. Her research focus is in reducing health disparities in diabetes, diabetes prevention and diabetes care in the adolescent population. She has also taken a leadership position in opening a transgender center at Grady Hospital and in improving medical education in transgender care for residents and fellows.
