Capacity Building
The Emory Global Diabetes Research Center has hosted over 50 junior and senior faculty, fellows and staff from collaborating institutions in India, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Denmark, China and Pakistan since 2008. These fellows came to receive training and mentoring in basic science epidemiology, clinical trials, research methodology and ethics, and grant writing, and continue to collaborate on center grants and projects, while working to improve health in their home countries. Strong research collaborations have evolved out of these exchanges.

- Chronic, Non-Communicable Diseases and Disorders Across the Lifespan Training Program for NCDs in India
Emory University students are required to have a practical research experience. These activities take place on-campus in the form of case-competitions and internships, and in the local community and beyond through global field experience projects. EGDRC student projects focus on addressing the burden and prevention of non-communicable diseases and students are placed with one of the center's core partners in India. Emory faculty provide mentoring and instruction to students and fellows both at Emory and in India, where they regularly participate in joint activities. The EGDRC also hosts visiting fellows from partner institutions around the world.
