Copenhagen Diabetes Declaration

The Copenhagen Declaration, developed by the Global Diabetes Forum, outlines a global blueprint to transform diabetes care and research through equitable access, advanced diagnostics, stronger health systems, and international collaboration.

The "Copenhagen Declaration for Global Diabetes" was drafted by the Global Diabetes Forum (GDF), a one-year long collaborative effort of over 50 experts from both HICs and LMICs.

The declaration is a blueprint for transforming diabetes prevention and care worldwide, and highlights the following strategies:

  • Leveraging emerging knowledge on diabetes heterogeneity, advanced diagnostics, and novel therapeutics.
  • Strengthening health systems through scalable, affordable, multidisciplinary care model.
  • Ensuring equitable access to innovative treatments and technologies.
  • Fostering global research collaborations to bridge the knowledge gap in diabetes care across diverse populations.
