The Pandemic of Diabetes Symposium

The Pandemic of Diabetes: 100 Years After the Discovery of Insulin Symposium

One hundred years after the discovery of insulin, diabetes rages as a slow and silent killer, already affecting a half a billion people and growing. Bringing together several noted national and international leaders in diabetes, multiple aspects of diabetes will be covered (genomics, epidemiology, prevention, quality of care, advances in therapeutics, diabetes in special populations, and precision medicine), and conversations will also reflect on the challenges to and opportunities for taming the raging ‘pandemic’ of diabetes.

This symposium has been organized in conjunction with the release of a special issue of Endocrinology and Metabolism Clinics of North America, published in collaboration with Elsevier. Topics include genomics, epidemiology, prevention, quality of care, advances in therapeutics, diabetes in special populations, and precision medicine.
