Biography
Dr. Nikhil Tandon is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism at AIIMS, with 30 years of experience in India's public healthcare system. As a clinician-researcher specializing in cardio-metabolic diseases, he has published over 600 articles with an h-index of 85. Dr. Tandon was a founding investigator of the CARRS Cohort, a study on cardiometabolic risk factors in India. His work has led to the inclusion of their diabetes care model in India's National Programme for NCD. He has served on various WHO Expert Groups and advisory committees in India, focusing on chronic disease care and health technology. Currently, Dr. Tandon is the Vice President of the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences and has been elected Chairman of the WHO Technical Advisory Group on Diabetes. He is also a Fellow of several prestigious Indian science academies.
