Biography


Dr. Fields is a postdoctoral fellow with the Emory Global Diabetes Research Center and METRIC T32 fellowship in the Department of Epidemiology. She received her Master of Public Health from the University of Kentucky and her PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Her research interests include psychosocial stressors, resilience, and structural racism as they relate to cardiometabolic disorders in Black women. She collaborates with Dr. Shivani Patel on understanding how social determinants of health affect diabetes and cardiovascular disease risk in marginalized populations. Long-term, she is interested in understanding how structural factors are related to cardiometabolic disease risk and potential intervention strategies to improve cardiometabolic health in underserved populations.
