Kara Suvada, MPH


Biography


Kara Suvada is a PhD student in Epidemiology at Emory University. Her current and future research interests lie at the intersection of cardiometabolic indicators (cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, type 2 diabetes), mental health (stress, PTSD, depression), and health services, all in the context of US and global settings. She has worked on projects related to type 2 diabetes and hypertension care (including the INDEPENDENT trial), mental health, and coordinated care in the U.S., India, and Kenya. She also currently holds a part-time fellowship at US Health and Human Services, where she works on projects related to disparities among those with long COVID.

Kara has also worked at IQVIA as a PhD Intern, CDC (Division of Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention and the Emergency Operations Center) as an evaluation fellow, and RTI International as a project manager and analyst. At these organizations, she worked on meta-analyses of different drug efficacies, evaluation projects related to community-implemented hypertension programs and emergency activities related to the COVID-19 emergency, in addition to numerous other projects related to chronic disease care.
