Meet EGDRC’s Krishna Sanaka, an Undergraduate Research Assistant in the Hubert Department of Global Health at Emory University. Passionate about combining medicine and public health, Sanaka's research focuses on innovative approaches to combat chronic diseases like hypertension and diabetes.

Research Areas

"My work centers on two key areas," Sanaka explains. "One is understanding the household clustering of hypertension to develop better screening and management strategies for undiagnosed cases. The other involves using machine learning to identify new diabetes subgroups, which can pave the way for more personalized care."

What makes EGDRC Unique?

For Sanaka, EGDRC offers a vibrant and inspiring environment. "What I appreciate most about EGDRC is the incredible mentorship. Everyone here is passionate about their work, and their enthusiasm is magnetic. The support I’ve received has been invaluable."

Why Emory?

Choosing Emory was an intentional step in Sanaka 's educational journey. "Emory’s emphasis on mentorship and its leading medical and research centers drew me here. It’s a place that genuinely supports the next generation of healthcare professionals and researchers."

While aspiring to become a physician, Sanaka is also deeply committed to public health. "I believe many health challenges people face are systemic, requiring large-scale interventions enabled by public health research. As a researcher, I aim to collaborate on interventions and paradigms that improve outcomes for individual patients."

Driven by curiosity and a desire to make a difference, Sanaka is already contributing to the mission of EGDRC.
